Azobe (Ekki)

Azobe, also known commercially as "Ekki," belongs to the Ochnaceae family and grows in West and Central Africa. Its wood ranges from dark red to chocolate-brown or purplish-brown, with prominent white deposits within the wood pores, a coarse texture, and interlocked grain. It is among the heaviest and hardest African woods, and one of the most resistant to decay and marine borers, making it a benchmark species for natural durability.
