Belonging to the Fabaceae family, it is distributed across West, Central, and East Africa. It is sometimes marketed as "African Teak" for its hardness and similarity in certain uses to Asian teak, though botanically it does not belong to the true teak family (Tectona). Its color is light brown to golden, with a coarse texture and pronounced interlocked grain, and its relatively high density gives it good resistance to termites.
Common Uses: Its high density and good termite resistance make it suitable for heavy structural work and timber framing that must bear significant loads, and it is also used for industrial flooring and container or vehicle flooring where the wood is subject to constant friction and pressure.
